People & Culture Business Partner
SHEIKE | Full Time | National — regular travel required | Reporting to the Head of People & Culture | $90,000 + superannuation
About SHEIKE
At SHEIKE, we believe every day can turn into a style statement. For over two decades we've been dressing Australian women to feel confident, feminine and empowered — from the first day of a new job to a wedding, a milestone birthday, or just a great Tuesday. Today, SHEIKE operates boutiques across every state, backed by a Head Office team in St Peters, NSW, that lives and breathes fashion, community and connection.
We're proudly people-focused, passionate about developing talent, and committed to empowering our team to lead with confidence. Our people are what makes SHEIKE an inspiring, amazing and vibrant place to work — and we're looking for someone who genuinely cares about getting that right.
We're now looking for a hands-on, commercially minded HR professional to join us as our next People & Culture Business Partner — someone who's just as confident running a store manager through a tricky ER matter as they are chasing down a hard-to-fill recruit or walking a WHS incident through to resolution.
The Opportunity
This role is built around three things: Recruitment, Workplace Health & Safety, and Employee Relations — with coaching and compliance running through everything you do.
You'll be the trusted people partner for our retail leadership team, working closely with the National Retail Manager, State Managers and Store Managers to attract great people, keep them safe, and support them through the tricky moments that come with running a national retail business.
You won't be a policy-writer removed from the business — you'll be coaching leaders in real time, getting hands-on with recruitment when a store needs support, and making sure WHS and ER matters are handled properly, promptly and compliantly, every time.
A Day in the Life
No two days look exactly the same, but a typical week might include:
-
Working a hard-to-fill Store Manager vacancy through to shortlist with a Regional Manager.
-
Coaching a Store Manager through a difficult employee relations conversation before it happens, not just after.
-
Managing a WHS incident report end to end — investigation, insurer liaison, and return-to-work planning.
-
Reviewing an ER file to make sure documentation and process will hold up if it's ever tested.
-
Checking in with the Head of People & Culture on recruitment pipeline, WHS trends and open ER matters across the network.
Key Responsibilities
-
Recruitment Partner with retail and Head Office leaders to attract, screen and onboard great talent, managing end-to-end recruitment for priority and hard-to-fill roles and supporting hiring managers through a consistent, high-quality process.
-
Workplace Health & Safety Own WHS incident reporting and investigation, liaise with insurers on claims, and lead return-to-work planning in partnership with relevant stakeholders — keeping SHEIKE compliant and, more importantly, keeping our people safe.
-
Employee Relations Provide hands-on, practical advice and support to leaders on employee relations matters, performance management and workplace investigations, ensuring every matter is handled fairly, consistently and in a way that holds up to scrutiny.
-
Coaching Coach leaders through difficult people conversations before, during and after they happen — building their confidence and capability so they're better equipped to handle the next one themselves.
-
Compliance Keep SHEIKE's people processes and documentation audit-ready — from ER files and WHS records to recruitment and onboarding compliance — and maintain a current, working knowledge of relevant employment and WHS legislation.
What Success Looks Like
-
Roles filled promptly with quality candidates, particularly for hard-to-fill and priority positions.
-
WHS incidents reported, investigated and resolved within required timeframes, with strong return-to-work outcomes.
-
ER matters handled consistently, fairly and with documentation that stands up if challenged.
-
Leaders visibly more confident and capable in handling their own people matters over time.
-
Clean compliance results across recruitment, WHS and ER audits.
What You'll Bring
-
Solid generalist HR experience with genuine depth in recruitment, WHS and employee relations — ideally gained in a multi-site retail or customer-facing environment.
-
Sound working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, WHS legislation and Australian employment law.
-
Confidence managing ER matters and WHS incidents end to end, from first report through to resolution.
-
A natural coach — someone who builds leader capability rather than just solving the problem for them.
-
Strong attention to detail and comfort with the compliance and documentation side of the role.
-
Willingness to travel to stores regularly to stay connected to the reality of the business.
Why SHEIKE
-
A genuinely hands-on HR generalist role with real depth across recruitment, WHS and ER.
-
The opportunity to shape people practices for a growing, iconic Australian brand.
-
Career & Development Opportunities within an evolving People & Culture function.
-
Perks & Recognition, including a generous employee discount on our fabulous collection.
-
Ongoing training and support to enhance your own skills and expertise.
