The Cardiothoracic Surgery SRMO Program provides a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive experience across both Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) CTSx and North Shore Private Hospital (NSPH) Intensive Care Unit, working alongside highly skilled surgeons and multidisciplinary teams in the management of complex cardiac and thoracic conditions.
Trainees are actively involved in all aspects of patient care, including inpatient and outpatient management, perioperative assessment, operative procedures, postoperative care, and multidisciplinary clinical decision-making. The position offers exposure to a broad range of cardiothoracic surgery presentations, from routine elective procedures to complex tertiary referral cases.
Based at Royal North Shore Hospital, a major tertiary referral centre, and North Shore Private Hospital, one of Australia's leading private surgical hospitals, trainees benefit from a diverse case mix and exposure to both public and private healthcare environments. What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the role is to provide effective clinical management under appropriate supervision, whilst developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. This position will include 6 months of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital, and 6 months in the ICU split between Royal North Shore and North Shore Private Hospitals. The doctor is the key person who works closely with all members of a multi-disciplinary team and deals with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature, whilst exercising discretion, sensitivity and maintaining confidentiality.
