Track Protection Officer – Rio Tinto Rail Network
Position Details
- Roster: 8 & 6 (12-hour days) – FIFO from Perth only or Karratha local.
- Location: Rio Tinto Sites, Karratha Western Australia
- Duration: Fixed-term 3 months (with potential extension, project-dependent)

The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Track Protection Officer (TPO) to join our team on a fixed-term 8/6 roster assignment.
Reporting to the Safeworking Supervisor, you will be responsible for implementing safeworking protection for track workers and coordinating safe rail operations across Yurra operations.
Requirements
- Current and valid Rio Tinto Track Protection Officer qualifications
- Available to commence / complete medical asap
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
- Full unrestricted HR Licence and operator tickets are highly desirable but not essential
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and manage appropriate track protection authorities accross both passive and active crossings
- Communicate effectively with the Train Controller and Site Supervisor
- Monitor and enforce safeworking rules in line with operational requirements
- Implement resolution strategies when required
- Act decisively and uphold safeworking standards at all times
- Maintain current safeworking knowledge in accordance with operating rules
