Artistic Wood Floor Pty Ltd, a Melbourne specialist in premium custom timber flooring and architectural timber work for architects, builders and renovation clients, is expanding its custom cabinetry and built-in joinery work. We are seeking a qualified full-time Cabinet Maker to fabricate, assemble, finish and install bespoke timber cabinetry and furniture from our Knoxfield workshop and on client sites.
Key duties:
- Examine drawings, work orders and sample parts to determine specifications and materials
- Select and work with timber, veneers, particle board and engineered wood products
- Set out, mark out, cut and shape components, including operating CNC / computer-controlled machinery where required
- Work from drawings and specifications to make custom cabinets, built-in units and furniture
- Assemble parts to form cabinet and furniture sections and completed articles
- Install cabinetry in kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes and residential and commercial fitouts
- Fit hinges, locks, catches, drawers, shelves and associated hardware
- Apply protective coatings and finishes to cabinets and furniture
- Repair and refurbish timber furniture and joinery
- Operate and maintain workshop machinery and hand and power tools safely
- Maintain a clean, safe workshop in line with WHS requirements
Skills and experience required:
- Trade qualification in Cabinet Making / Joinery (AQF Certificate III or IV) or equivalent, or at least three years of relevant experience
- Minimum 12 months of hands-on cabinetmaking experience
- Ability to read technical drawings and work to fine tolerances
- Experience with cabinetmaking machinery (panel saw, edge bander; CNC an advantage)
- Current Construction Induction (White) Card
- Australian driver licence
