About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter / Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established manufacturing facility based in Western Sydney.
This is a great opportunity for a hands-on tradesperson with experience maintaining production machinery, packaging lines, conveyors, filling equipment, and automated machinery within a manufacturing environment.
Experience within pharmaceutical, food, FMCG, packaging, or high-speed production environments will be highly regarded.
You will be responsible for keeping production equipment running efficiently, responding to breakdowns, completing preventative maintenance, and supporting ongoing improvements across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on production and packaging machinery
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across conveyors, filling machines, capping machines, labelling equipment, mixers, and automated machinery
- Respond to breakdowns and minimise downtime in a fast-paced production environment
- Work on pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, bearings, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systems
- Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve machine performance and reliability
- Complete maintenance records, work orders, and documentation accurately
- Follow site safety, quality, and GMP requirements at all times
- Work closely with production and maintenance teams to keep equipment operating efficiently
To Be Successful, You Will Have
- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Maintenance Fitter, or similar
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, FMCG, food, packaging, or pharmaceutical environment
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Experience working on conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, valves, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and work with maintenance schedules
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
Highly Regarded
- Experience with high-speed packaging or filling lines
- Experience using CMMS or preventative maintenance systems
- Exposure to GMP, HACCP, ISO, TGA, or FDA-regulated environments
- Basic electrical fault-finding knowledge
- PLC fault-finding exposure
- Mandarin speaking ability
