James An College is a tutoring centre in Wallsend helping students build their skills and confidence in English, Mathematics and Thinking Skills. We specialise in OC and Selective training courses. We're a friendly, close-knit team that cares about our students and the families we work with.
About the role:
We're looking for a reliable, organised and warm person to join us in an ongoing part-time role as our Centre Assistant. This is a hands-on role with a consistent weekly schedule -you'll be the welcoming face of the centre, keep the day-to-day admin running smoothly, and step up as the go-to person when the centre owner isn't on the floor.
With set days each week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays), this is a great fit if you're after stable, regular hours and enjoy variety, working with children and families, and taking ownership of your work.
What you'll be doing:
- Greeting students and parents and being the friendly first point of contact
- Answering phone calls, responding to enquiries and managing messages
- General admin - scheduling, records, enrolments and keeping things organised
- Marking students' homework and worksheets accurately
- Supporting the centre owner and acting as second in charge, including helping oversee sessions and keeping things running smoothly
- Helping create a positive, supportive environment for our students
What we're looking for:
- A friendly, professional and approachable manner with both children and adults
- Strong organisation skills and attention to detail
- Confidence answering phones and handling enquiries
- Reliability and the ability to use initiative and take ownership
- Solid skills in English and Mathematics to support marking
- Availability to commit to regular hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays
- A current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one)
Nice to have:
- Previous experience in reception, admin, customer service or education
- Experience working with children or in a tutoring/school setting
Pay: $27.00 – $30.00 per hour
