Nepean Hospital is a major referral and teaching hospital of the University of Sydney. Nepean Hospital is recognised as comprising one of the largest and busiest maternity care facilities in Western Sydney. The tertiary level public hospital provides care for approximately 4000 births per year, including high risk antenatal care, and services the state’s highest population of high-risk groups such as Aboriginal and Pacific Islander women.
As a JMO in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, you’ll be joining a tertiary level public hospital. We have dedicated teaching every week in general and high risk obstetrics, and our enthusiastic team will assist you with your application to the RANZCOG training program.
What you'll be doing
- Developing competency in:
- outpatient management of pregnant women.
- effective assessment and investigative skills in women presenting with acute complications of pregnancy.
- basic delivery suite and operative O&G skills.
- effective gynaecological assessment and investigative skills in women presenting to outpatient and emergency departments with Gynaecological presentations.
- Effectively assessment and investigative skills in women presenting with acute complications of pregnancy.
- Coordinating the care of women admitted for gynaecological care within a team and under the supervision of Consultants.
Where you'll be working
- Nepean Hospital is a major referral and teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and one of the largest and busiest maternity care facilities in Western Sydney.
- We provide care for up to 4,000 births per year, including high-risk antenatal care
- Our Obstetrics and Gynaecology unit has 48 beds: 24 antenatal and 24 post-natal beds and 9 birthing rooms. There are also a large number of gynaecology operating lists.
- We service the state’s highest population of high-risk groups.
- We’re proud of our teaching program for junior medical officers in our department with qualified consultants with training opportunities to support certificates and diplomas with RANZCOG.
