Introduction:
Capital Region Community Services is looking for a capable and practical Project Accountant to lead a key financial systems integration project while supporting accurate, timely and compliant financial operations.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys improving how finance systems work in real life. You will partner closely with the Executive Manager Business and Infrastructure to review existing processes, strengthen financial controls, improve reporting, and help CRCS make better use of technology to support decision-making across the organisation.
About the role
In this role, you will lead the integration and optimisation of CRCS’s financial systems while maintaining the integrity of end-of-period accounting processes. You will support automation, systems improvement, financial reporting, acquittals, audit preparation and compliance obligations, including GST, FBT and superannuation guarantee requirements.
You will bring strong accounting knowledge, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the confidence to work across systems, data, processes and people. You will also be able to explain financial, and systems matters clearly and support teams through change.
What you will bring
- A degree qualification in Accounting.
- Current CPA or CA membership, or significant progress towards completion.
- Experience in accounting and finance roles, including reporting, reconciliations and end-of-period processes.
- Experience with financial systems analysis, implementation, integration, support and improvement.
- Strong Excel, Microsoft Office and financial management information system skills.
- Sound knowledge of financial controls, compliance requirements and statutory obligations.
- A collaborative working style, strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Hold or be willing to obtain a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People registration (ACT) and/or a Working with Children Check (NSW), and have these with them at all times whilst employed by CRCS.
Undertake a National Criminal History Clearance by CRCS prior to commencing and every three years thereafter as a condition of employment. Employees are required to advise CRCS of any convictions that may effect their eligibility to work or perform the inherent requirements of their position
Maintain full COVID-19 vaccination currency and provide evidence of their vaccinations to CRCS (sensitive information is kept private and in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles) unless they are able to provide suitable evidence of a medical contraindication that prevents them from receiving this vaccine.
