We are looking for a National Energy & Environmental Manager to join our Facilities team, leading the strategy, governance and performance of energy and environmental outcomes across the Kmart Group portfolio.
This role operates at a senior manager level and provides end-to-end ownership of energy forecasting, environmental performance, regulatory reporting and capital investment decisions. You will act as the key interface between the business and the IFM Energy Centre, translating strategic objectives into actionable plans, ensuring performance outcomes are commercially sound, compliant and aligned to Group sustainability commitments.
This is a high-impact role suited to someone who thrives in a complex, data-driven environment and enjoys influencing senior stakeholders while driving long-term environmental and commercial outcomes.
What you’ll be doing
- Own and deliver the energy and environmental strategy, ensuring alignment with company and Group objectives
- Set portfolio-level targets and translate strategy into a clear, prioritised roadmap of initiatives
- Oversee energy forecasting, monitoring actuals vs forecast and identifying risks and opportunities
- Lead environmental procurement planning to meet compliance and reporting obligations
- Own Light & Power and Waste budgets, partnering with Finance to manage forecasts and explain variances
- Lead capital allocation and investment decisions across energy and environmental initiatives
- Develop and govern business cases end-to-end, ensuring they are robust, accurate and decision-ready
- Provide oversight and assurance of NGERs reporting, ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks, standards and data assurance processes
- Partner with Sustainability and Group teams to ensure alignment with climate disclosures and reporting requirements
- Lead, coach and develop team members while managing external vendors and service providers
- Provide clear, data-driven insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders to support decision-making
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- 5+ years’ experience in energy, environmental management, facilities, or a related commercial function
- Strong experience in forecasting, budgeting, financial analysis and performance management
- Proven ability to develop and govern business cases and manage CAPEX investment decisions
- Solid understanding of energy markets, environmental procurement and regulatory frameworks (e.g. NGERs)
- Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional stakeholders and external partners
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance compliance, risk and business outcomes
- Highly developed analytical skills with a disciplined approach to data quality and governance
- Experience leading teams and influencing senior stakeholders across complex environments
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear insights
- A proactive, strategic mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and long-term value creation
