POSITION PURPOSE
Exotic Bazaar is an online-first food brand expanding beyond its website into new digital products - a subscription offering, online cooking classes, and a companion application that personalises the customer experience. The Developer Programmer designs, builds and maintains the software behind these products across web and application platforms — writing and maintaining code, building data-driven and intelligent features, and turning business requirements into reliable, working software.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interpret business requirements and technical designs, and build, maintain and modify the code for the company's software across its website and a companion application.
- Build and maintain subscription / recurring-purchase functionality and the systems that support it.
- Develop online cooking-class capability and related content features.
- Develop data-driven personalisation and recommendation features including customised product suggestions and analysis of repeat-purchase patterns.
- Develop search and recommendation functionality that matches recipes to the ingredients a customer already has, using efficient data indexing and search.
- Design and develop APIs, integrations and databases connecting the website, the application and third-party services.
- Construct technical specifications from business requirements; test software and prepare technical documentation.
- Own performance, reliability and security across the platforms.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- A relevant ICT / software qualification
- Strong, broad programming ability across multiple languages and environments (for example Liquid and JavaScript).
- Multidisciplinary development experience spanning web and application development including front-end, back-end, APIs and databases.
- Experience building features for e-commerce with understanding of relevant success metrics
- Ability to translate business requirements into working, well-documented software.
- An understanding of Middle Eastern food and culture is highly desirable, given the brand's positioning.

Pay: $82,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
