What's on Offer
Ownership of a finance function, a genuine seat at the table in a growing business, and a leadership team that backs their people. If you're looking for a role where you're valued, trusted and set up to grow with the business, this one is worth your attention.
About the Company
This is a Queensland-based engineering consultancy and advisory business that's growing quickly and doing it the right way. The directors came from one of the world's leading global engineering firms before founding this business, and they've brought that expertise and standard with them. The result is a tech-leveraged, commercially sharp consultancy that operates with genuine professionalism and a point of difference in their market.
The team is around 45 people across Queensland and the culture is a real strength here. Leadership is fair, accessible and reasonable. They value people who want to be part of something, invest in progression and are proud of the tenure they've built within the business. This isn't a place where good work goes unnoticed.
About the Role
With the business growing at pace, they need a solid, switched-on accountant who understands how a dynamic, project-based business operates. You'll own the day-to-day finance function and work closely with the Managing Director and a Finance Officer who will support you. Tax and statutory accounting is handled by an external firm, so your focus is on keeping the business running financially, contributing to commercial decisions and being a trusted part of the leadership conversation.
You'll also be comfortable working across functions. This is a lean business and they value people who can lend a hand across office administration and project support when needed. Down the track, there's a genuine opportunity to step into commercial strategy as you embed yourself in the business.
What matters most here is someone who operates with honesty and integrity, communicates well, and understands what it takes to support a growing business. The technical capability needs to be there, but so does the character.
What You'll Be Doing
- Full payroll processing and management
- P&L reporting and financial management across a group structure
- Invoicing, accounts payable and receivable
- Collaborating with an external accounting firm on tax and statutory requirements
- Supporting leadership with ad hoc reporting and commercial analysis
- Contributing across office administration and project functions as needed
What We're Looking For
- CPA/CA qualified or working towards it
- Proven Xero experience (essential) and strong Excel
- A genuine all-rounder who is comfortable owning a broad remit
- Experience in a project-based, construction or engineering environment highly regarded
- Strong communicator with high integrity and a team-first approach
- Someone who wants to grow with a business, not just occupy a seat
