We achieve this through face-to-face interactions by our frontline teams, supported by our safety operations, operational readiness, and network performance teams.
About the role
Max Term Contract role of 18months
The Workforce Planning Analyst role develops and maintains tools, dashboards and reporting functions that provide reliable visibility of future resource demands, any risks, infrastructure concerns and rostering requirements for frontline staff in our Operations division, so that business leaders have accurate workforce data to make informed decisions. More role responsibilities also include:

Develop and maintain reliable resource outlooks for Operations front line teams that clearly define fluctuations in resource demands.

Maintain workforce models, dashboards and scenario analyses to:
- Monitor and assess workforce capacity, competency, attrition and absenteeism trends, and labour market factors so that future workforce gaps and risks can be proactively identified, escalated and recommendations developed to prevent risk occurrence.
- Provide required data to enable Finance teams to conduct cost evaluations to inform decisions and business cases for the increase or decrease of high-volume front-line Operations roles.
- Identify opportunities to optimise workforce utilisation and reduce reliance on overtime practice so that costs can be reduced whilst achieving operational objectives.

Analyse resource requirements and capacity forecasts to identify and escalate potential risks and shortfalls, so the business can take proactive action to maintain operational readiness and delivery commitments.

Manage and complete workforce planning documentation in alignment with enterprise standards and regulatory obligations.

Engage with stakeholders to assess the effectiveness and value of workforce planning reporting, understand requirements for new projects and business-as-usual roster changes, assess workforce and rostering impacts to provide accurate information for resource planning and roster design.

Develop and manage workforce reporting and analytics that provide meaningful insights into leave management, tenure, absenteeism, and turnover, enabling the identification of emerging trends and insights that can be leveraged to inform workforce planning decisions and support the achievement of rostering efficiencies.
About You:
- Experience in collecting and analysing large volumes of data and being able to present results of such analysis in a concise and insightful manner to senior leaders.

Experience in the rail industry is strongly preferred.

Computer literacy skills such as Power BI experience or similar would be advantageous.

Strong and effective communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to build relationships and communicate with varying levels of team members and stakeholders.

Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.

Effective multi-tasking and time management skills with the ability ensure deadlines are strictly adhered to.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with prompt decision making skills in an operational setting.

Ability to follow and have knowledge of occupational health, safety and environmental procedures in the rail industry.

Ability to identify and analyse risks or trend patterns to then make corrective actions.
