Frank ICT Pty Ltd, trading as Phone Central, is a telecommunications and business communications provider specialising in the installation, maintenance and support of enterprise communication systems across Australia. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a skilled Telecommunications Field Engineer to join our technical team on a full-time basis.
This position requires the application of specialised technical knowledge to design, install, commission, monitor, troubleshoot and support telecommunications networks and systems.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Design and document business telecommunications solutions, including VoIP, SIP, cloud/on-premise PBX, unified communications, contact centre, internet/NBN, mobile data and LAN/WAN connectivity required to support telecommunications voice and data performance.
- Assess client sites and existing telecommunications infrastructure, including carrier services, call flows, network topology, IP addressing, routers, switches, Wi-Fi, handsets, cabling pathways and associated telecommunications-dependent systems and equipment.
- Prepare and coordinate technical implementation, migration and cutover plans, equipment schedules, network diagrams, configuration records and technical documentation.
- Commission, configure, test, maintain and repair telecommunications platforms and equipment, including iPECS, SIP trunks, VoIP handsets, call routing, IVR, voicemail, conferencing, call recording, contact centre functions and supporting network devices.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise telecommunications system performance, including call quality, latency, jitter, packet loss, bandwidth, trunk capacity, failover, service availability, extension usage and contact centre metrics.
- Diagnose and resolve complex telecommunications and associated network faults, including SIP, routing, firewall/NAT, VLAN/QoS, carrier/NBN, provisioning, call quality and congestion issues.
- Provide specialist technical advice to clients and internal teams, and coordinate with carriers, ISPs, NBN channels, vendors and technology partners on telecommunications design, migration, activations, number porting, escalations, firmware updates, risks and upgrade requirements.
- Integrate telecommunications systems with supporting business infrastructure, maintain technical records, complete handover and administrator training, support ongoing maintenance, and ensure compliance with technical, manufacturer, WHS and licensing requirements.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must demonstrate:
- A Diploma or higher qualification in a telecommunications or related field.
- 1 year full-time experience in a telecommunications or related technical role. Strong candidates with 5+ years of relevant experience will be highly regarded.
- Practical experience with VoIP, SIP, PBX, cloud telephony, on-premise phone systems, business internet/NBN services, routers, switches, VLANs, QoS, wireless networking and IP-based endpoints.
The position is located at Suite 14 , Level 10, 36 Marine Parade Southport QLD.

Pay: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
