If you're an experienced coverage banker who enjoys transaction execution, stakeholder management and seeing deals through from start to finish, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
We're seeking an Associate Director to join our Active Portfolio Management (APM) team within Institutional Banking & Markets. This is a unique opportunity to work across a broad range of industries, clients and transaction types while developing specialist expertise in credit insurance, risk distribution and portfolio optimisation.
Unlike many sector-focused coverage roles, this position offers exposure across almost every coverage team in the business, providing variety, complexity and the chance to build a truly diverse transaction skillset.
The Active Portfolio Management team sits within Lending Product & Portfolio Management and plays a critical role in optimising IB&M's loan portfolio from both a return-on-risk and return-on-capital perspective. The team executes transactions that distribute risk exposures to banks, investors and insurance markets, while also identifying opportunities to add value through secondary loan markets.
Working closely with coverage bankers, Credit Risk, Legal, Syndications and a range of external market participants, you'll lead complex transactions that help shape and manage the Bank's institutional lending portfolio.
You'll take ownership of transactions from initiation through to completion, managing multiple stakeholders and ensuring successful execution throughout the transaction lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the execution of loan sales, risk participations, credit insurance transactions and other portfolio management initiatives.
Managing transactions end-to-end, from structuring and due diligence through to execution and ongoing management.
Working closely with Coverage, Credit Risk, Legal, Finance, Operations and Syndications teams to deliver optimal outcomes.
Coordinating external stakeholders including insurers, brokers, investors and banking counterparties.
Supporting the distribution and optimisation of portfolio risk across a range of structures and markets.
Reviewing and negotiating transaction and insurance documentation.
Managing multiple concurrent deals and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in Institutional Banking, Corporate Banking, Credit, Structured Finance or related transaction-led roles.
Strong transaction execution skills and experience managing deals from origination through to completion.
A demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across diverse teams.
Strong project management capabilities and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
We're particularly interested in speaking with coverage bankers who are looking for a new challenge and broader exposure across industries and transaction types. You don't need prior experience in credit insurance or risk distribution. We're looking for someone with strong commercial judgement, transaction leadership capability, and the curiosity to learn. Experience with institutional loan markets will be highly regarded, but not essential.
If you're ready to broaden your transaction experience and build expertise in a specialised area of institutional banking, we'd love to hear from you.
If you're already part of the Commonwealth Bank Group (including Bankwest, x15ventures), you'll need to apply through Sidekick to submit a valid application. We’re keen to support you with the next step in your career.
