Open Arms – Veterans & Families Counselling is Australia’s leading provider of high-quality mental health assessment and clinical counselling services for current serving members of the Australian Defence Force, veterans and their families. We focus on meeting client needs through a combination of proven clinical practices and new, and emerging evidence-based approaches.
We have an immediate vacancy in our Melbourne office. A merit pool will be established to fill future vacancies in our locations across Australia.
As a Regional Director in the Open Arms Division, you will contribute to the national strategic direction and development of Open Arms services. You will play a pivotal leadership role in our regional teams and contribute to the achievement of the national Open Arms agenda.
You will work in partnership with other business areas and maintain regional connections with key external stakeholders in other Government departments, including Defence, service providers and ex-service organisations, to maximise the effectiveness of our services.
DUTIES
As an
EL2 you will be responsible for leading the business and strategic plan in your region, including
- delivery of timely, high-quality services to veteran and their families in line with professional standards of practice, departmental policies and objectives, and the Open Arms Model of Care
-
identification and application of quality improvement activities and regional application of Open Arms procedures and governance
-
monitoring client service satisfaction to inform continuous improvement inclusive of assessing and analysing complaints, and the provision of clear and accurate advice to complainants, internal and external stakeholders
-
act as a clinical escalation point and apply independent professional judgement to resolve complex clinical issues, and
-
contributing to the evaluation of regional and national service delivery.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
-
Qualifications as a registered Psychologist / Mental Health Occupational Therapist / Mental Health Registered Nurse with full AHPRA registration, OR
-
Qualification as a Social Worker and membership of the Australian Association Social Workers (AASW) and eligible to apply for Mental Health accreditation, OR
-
A Masters-level counselling qualification and registration with PACFA as a Registered Clinical Counsellor or with ACA at Level 3 or Level 4.
ELIGIBILITY

Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).

All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

The successful candidate will be required obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.
