Senior Sales Assistant – Canberra Stockfeeds
0.8 to Full-Time Position | Hall, ACT
Canberra Stockfeeds is growing rapidly, and we’re looking for a reliable, mature and motivated Senior Sales Assistant to join our team.
This is a 0.8 to full-time role suited to someone who loves customer service, enjoys working in a busy rural retail environment, and has the confidence and leadership skills to help support the team on the shop floor. We are looking for someone mature, practical and level-headed, who can take initiative, communicate clearly, and help keep the store running smoothly.
We are a fast-growing stockfeed, pet and rural supplies store based in Hall, servicing a wide range of customers including horse owners, hobby farmers, poultry keepers, dog and cat owners, and larger commercial farms. Every day is different, and we need someone who can think on their feet, manage competing priorities and provide excellent customer service.
About the role
The Senior Sales Assistant will be responsible for:
- Providing excellent customer service and practical product advice
- Assisting customers with feed, supplement, animal health, poultry, pet and rural supply enquiries
- Processing sales, orders and account purchases
- Supporting staff on shift and helping maintain a positive team culture
- Taking initiative during busy periods and helping guide less experienced team members
- Managing stock presentation, merchandising and store standards
- Unloading, checking and putting away stock
- Assisting with click-and-collect, delivery orders and customer pickups
- Helping with day-to-day store organisation, cleaning and operational tasks
- Supporting management with systems, processes and general store improvements
About you
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Mature, reliable and able to show leadership in a busy team environment
- Confident, friendly and genuinely enjoys helping customers
- Practical, proactive and able to take initiative without needing constant direction
- Experienced in retail, customer service, rural supplies, equine, pet, farming or a similar hands-on environment
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced store with competing priorities
- Physically capable of lifting 20–25kg bags regularly
- A strong communicator with good attention to detail
- Comfortable using POS systems, computers and basic admin processes
- Able to work some weekend shifts as part of the roster
Knowledge of horses, livestock, poultry, dogs/cats, feed, supplements, animal health products, fencing or rural supplies would be highly regarded.
A forklift licence would be a great bonus, but it is not a deal breaker for the right person.
Hours
This role is available as either 0.8 or full-time, depending on the right applicant. Weekend availability will be required.
