Tanally Pty Ltd is a family-owned broadacre cropping business in the Riverina. We operate a modern, large-scale farming enterprise and are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineering Technician to support the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of our agricultural machinery and equipment.
This is a hands-on role that combines mechanical expertise with technical analysis and problem-solving. You will play a key role in ensuring machinery operates efficiently and safely throughout the cropping cycle.
About the Role
The Mechanical Engineering Technician will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance, testing, monitoring, and improvement of agricultural machinery, vehicles, and farm equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of machinery maintenance programs.
- Conducting inspections, diagnostic testing, and fault-finding on agricultural machinery and mechanical systems.
- Analysing equipment performance and recommending modifications or improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.
- Assisting with the installation, commissioning, and testing of machinery, components, and upgrades.
- Coordinating repairs and maintenance activities to minimise downtime during critical farming operations.
- Maintaining records relating to machinery performance, maintenance schedules, repairs, and operational data.
- Monitoring spare parts inventory and assisting with procurement of mechanical components and equipment.
- Providing technical support and advice to machinery operators and management.
- Assisting with the supervision and training of workshop staff and machinery operators where required.
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with workplace health, safety, and environmental standards.

What We're Looking For
- A Mechanical Engineering Technician or candidate with relevant engineering qualification and/or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, and agricultural machinery.
- Experience in equipment diagnostics, testing, maintenance planning, and performance analysis.
- Ability to work independently and solve technical problems efficiently.
- Experience with agricultural, heavy vehicle, or industrial machinery preferred.
- Strong communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
What We Offer
- Salary: $77,000 – $100,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience and qualifications)
- On-farm three-bedroom house available, with Rankins Springs Primary School bus stop at the gate. Located approximately 45 minutes from Griffith, NSW.
