Vatan Sydney is a restaurant located in Baulkham Hills, NSW, committed to delivering quality food and an enjoyable dining experience. With a focus on fresh ingredients, consistent preparation and high standards of service, we are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team and contribute to the continued success of the restaurant.
Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 plus superannuation (depending on experience and skills)
Role: Full-time, 38 hours per week
Work Location: Baulkham Hills, NSW 2153
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and develop menus in consultation with management, considering seasonal availability and operational requirements.
- Prepare, cook and present dishes to established quality, portion and presentation standards.
- Monitor the quality of dishes throughout preparation and presentation to ensure consistency.
- Estimate food requirements, monitor stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients and supplies.
- Inspect ingredients and food supplies to ensure freshness, quality and suitability for use.
- Monitor food preparation, storage and handling practices to maintain food safety and hygiene standards.
- Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment and coordinate food preparation during service.
- Provide guidance and training to kitchen staff on food preparation, cooking, portioning and presentation standards.
Requirements
- Diploma of Hospitality Management, relevant commercial cookery qualification, or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Sound understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a kitchen team.
