Chapter Three Espresso & Bar is a premium café and restaurant in Canterbury, Victoria, offering specialty coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner service, private functions, and catering. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Café Manager to lead our front-of-house team and help deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the café and restaurant.
- Lead, train, motivate, and supervise front-of-house staff to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Prepare staff rosters and manage labour costs.
- Ensure smooth service during breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekends, and functions.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and workplace health and safety.
- Monitor stock levels, place orders, and liaise with suppliers.
- Handle customer enquiries and resolve complaints professionally.
- Manage daily cash handling, EFTPOS reconciliation, and end-of-day procedures.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service.
- Assist with menu promotions, seasonal specials, and marketing initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Victorian liquor licensing requirements and RSA obligations.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a Café Manager or Restaurant Supervisor/Manager role.
- Barista qualification with the ability to prepare high-quality espresso coffee.
- Excellent latte art skills are essential.
- Strong leadership and team management experience.
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced café environment.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Sound knowledge of café operations, POS systems, stock control, and cash handling.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Essential Requirements
- Valid Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.
- Full Australian working rights.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
- Reliable, well-presented, and passionate about hospitality.
- Current Victorian Food Handler/Food Safety knowledge is highly regarded.
