About the Department
The Engineering and Facilities Management Department is responsible for ensuring Monash Health's hospitals and healthcare facilities remain safe, reliable, compliant and operational 24 hours a day. Supporting more than 40 sites across Victoria, the department delivers facilities management, engineering, maintenance, essential services compliance and operational support that enables high-quality patient care.
Our teams work closely with clinical services, engineering specialists, contractors and operational leaders to ensure hospital infrastructure and building services perform safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to healthcare delivery.
About the Role
Join our team as the Senior Manager – Sites Operations on a full-time, ongoing basis, primarily based at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, with regular travel across Monash Health sites.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering & Facilities Management, you will lead the site-based Facilities Management teams responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance and performance of Monash Health's buildings, infrastructure and engineering services.
As the operational lead for site facilities, you will ensure hospital infrastructure remains safe, compliant and reliable while working closely with clinical and operational stakeholders to minimise service disruptions and support the delivery of exceptional patient care.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead and develop multidisciplinary Facilities Management teams across assigned sites.
Oversee the delivery of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance programs.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, essential services regulations and organisational standards.
Build strong relationships with clinical services and operational leaders to coordinate maintenance activities with minimal disruption.
Manage contractor performance, site safety and compliance across facilities.
Monitor operational performance, maintenance budgets and key service delivery indicators.
Drive continuous improvement in facilities operations, maintenance practices and customer service.
Support emergency response activities and ensure operational readiness across sites.
Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure and capital project teams to support maintenance and operational priorities.
Contribute to sustainability initiatives and operational improvements across the health service.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Extensive experience leading facilities management or engineering operations within a large, complex organisation.
Strong operational leadership experience managing maintenance services, building operations and critical infrastructure.
Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Experience working closely with operational stakeholders to deliver customer-focused facilities services.
Sound knowledge of statutory compliance, essential services maintenance and contractor management.
Strong financial management skills, including budget oversight and resource planning.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to remain calm and make effective decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
