About the role
The Senior Property Officer plays a critical role in managing land transactions that directly support the operation, expansion, and provision of public schools. This includes acquiring new sites and additional land for existing schools, identifying assets surplus to requirements and managing disposals, and providing solutions to other property related matters. The role manages end-to-end property transactions and ensures all property dealings align with educational priorities, legislative requirements, and community needs.
The role sits within the Acquisitions and Divestments team in School Infrastructure. The team is responsible for acquiring land for new and expanding schools, managing divestments of surplus assets and delivering strategic property outcomes that support the growth of the NSW public education system. Working across metropolitan and regional NSW, you will manage complex property transactions and engage with landowners, councils, valuers, consultants and other government agencies.

About you
- Demonstrated experience in land transactions, ideally within a government or education context.
- Strong understanding of NSW land acquisition frameworks and planning policies, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes.
- Strong written communication and report writing skills.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Tertiary qualifications in Property-related discipline and/or extensive knowledge and experience in servicing a large and complex property portfolio.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
