About the Opportunity
As the Manager, Work Health & Safety (WHS), you will provide leadership and direction for the WHS function within Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD). You will lead districtwide WHS improvement initiatives, audits and projects, and oversee the development and implementation of the MLHD WHS Management Framework to ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements while supporting organisational strategic objectives.
In this role you will champion a culture of safety and employee wellbeing ensuring its importance is recognised and embedded at all levels of the organisation.
You will be responsible for:
- Contributing to the Safety, Health and Wellbeing Strategic Plan to foster a high performing health and safety culture aimed at achieving zero harm
- Developing, implementing and continuously improving an integrated WHS Management Framework, including programs, policies, procedures and strategies
- Leading and managing the Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner team
- Managing and providing lead auditor expertise for the MLHD WHS Audit program
- Building WHS capability across the LHD by guiding portfolio clients and monitoring performance against key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Analysing incident and claims data to identify trends, and develop solutions and recommendations for improvement
- Developing and facilitating targeted WHS education and awareness sessions focused on key organisational risks
- Providing accurate and timely reports to senior leadership, NSW Ministry of Health and other relevant stakeholders

About You
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Demonstrated experience in the development, research and analysis of WHS management systems using contemporary legislation
- Proven leadership and management capability with experience leading teams and driving positive safety culture change
- Ability to identify solutions and develop WHS interventions to improve processes and systems to achieve measurable outcomes
- Experience managing audit programs and providing lead auditor support, including evaluating and documenting audit evidence
- Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Capacity and willingness to travel across the MLHD region, including regional and remote areas (current Class C driver's licence required)
