About us:
The Cairns Hospital Pharmacy Department offers a supportive learning environment with opportunities for professional growth through participation in Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) accredited residency training programs, enabling pharmacists to develop advanced clinical, leadership, and professional practice skills.
Our department employs roughly 70 pharmacists including specialists in areas such as renal dialysis, sexual health, oncology, clinical trials, geriatrics, cardiology, emergency medicine and infectious diseases. This is in addition to a large general medical, general surgical, and critical care service, and a high paced inpatient and outpatient dispensary.
About the role:
Provide input in the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the work area.
Participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve patient / client care.
Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities
Liaise with patients and their families, other health professionals, supervisors, students and researchers, as required to ensure continuum of care.
Provide clinical education pertaining to routine tasks for interns, students and less experienced staff with the support of senior clinical staff.
Work cooperatively and effectively within the team and with patients / clients
