What You’ll Be Doing
As a Marketing & Customer Systems Engineer, you will play a hands-on role across the marketing and customer systems stack - implementing, configuring, and maintaining platforms and integrations that enable advertising, automation, personalisation, experimentation, and analytics.
This is a technically broad role requiring experience across advertising technology (particularly Google and social platforms), marketing automation, CDPs, experimentation, personalisation, and web analytics. You’ll work cross-functionally with Marketing, Customer, Commercial, Engineering, and Data teams to ensure platforms are optimised, integrated, and delivering value.
You’ll be platform-agnostic, comfortable learning new tools, and applying consistent principles across systems, with a strong curiosity for how emerging AI can enhance team capability and customer experience.
Advertising Technology & Campaign Operation Support

Administer and optimise advertising platforms (Google stack: SA360, DV360, CM360, Google Ads, Bing Ads), ensuring campaigns are configured, tracked, and integrated with reporting systems.

Implement and manage S2S and conversion API tracking (e.g. Google Enhanced Conversions, Meta, TikTok, Reddit, Snapchat), maintaining accurate measurement in a privacy-first environment.

Troubleshoot measurement discrepancies, manage pixels and audiences, and collaborate with Marketing & Commercial teams to support campaign delivery and attribution accuracy.
Marketing Automation & Customer Engagement

Configure and maintain marketing automation platforms, ensuring journeys, triggers, and audiences are connected to relevant data sources.

Manage CDP operations including audience segmentation, data pipelines, identity resolution, and activation to advertising and engagement platforms.

Support CRM and engagement platform integrations, respond to operational requests, and identify data quality issues to improve customer data capture and activation.
Experimentation & Personalisation

Support experimentation platforms (e.g. Optimizely), ensuring tests are correctly configured, instrumented, and connected to analytics.

Assist teams with A/B and multivariate testing, including setup, configuration, and results validation.

Contribute to personalisation and KPI tracking, maintaining documentation and a knowledge base to support data-driven decisions.
Analytics & Tag Management

Maintain analytics and tag management infrastructure (GA4, GTM web/app/server), ensuring reliable data collection and reporting.

Support event tracking implementation across web, app, and marketing channels, aligning with broader data systems.

Troubleshoot data issues and ensure alignment across analytics, advertising, CDP, CRM, and automation platforms.
Data Governance & Compliance

Ensure compliance with privacy regulations and consent frameworks, understanding impacts on data collection and activation.

Support first-party data strategies, including accurate capture, enrichment, and activation aligned to governance standards.

Maintain documentation, naming conventions, and stay current on platform policies and privacy changes, escalating key updates.

What Sets You Apart
Technical Experience
-
3–4+ years’ experience in marketing technology, digital advertising operations, systems engineering, or measurement.
-
Hands-on with Google advertising stack (Google Ads, SA360, DV360, CM360) and understanding of platform integration and data flows.
-
Experience with S2S tracking and conversion APIs (e.g. Google Enhanced Conversions, Meta CAPI, or similar).
-
Exposure to CDPs, marketing automation, or CRM systems, including audience segmentation and data activation.
-
Familiar with experimentation/personalisation tools, GA4, GTM, plus foundational JavaScript and SQL for troubleshooting and validation.

Solid understanding of privacy and first-party data principles in digital marketing.
Soft Skills & Collaboration

Detail-oriented and operationally strong, with a disciplined approach to implementation, testing, and maintenance.

Able to manage competing priorities, balancing ad hoc requests and project delivery with clear communication.
