Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Disability and Mental Health Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide direct support to individuals with mental health needs, helping them to manage their conditions, build coping strategies, and achieve their personal goals. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care tailored to each client’s unique situation.
Summary
As a Mental Health Disability Support Worker in Perth, you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate support to individuals with mental health challenges and disabilities. This temporary, casual position is essential for enhancing the quality of life for our clients, ensuring they receive the care and assistance they need to thrive in their daily activities. Your contributions will directly impact their well-being and integration into the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to clients, helping them with daily activities, emotional regulation, and social integration.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans, focusing on each client’s strengths and goals.
- Respond to mental health crises in a calm and professional manner, ensuring the safety and well-being of yourself, clients and community at large.
- Advocate for clients’ needs within the community, including access to services and resources to help them on a day-to-day basis
- Maintain accurate and timely records of client progress, incidents, and any changes in day-to-day lives.
- Work collaboratively with mental health professionals, social workers, and family members to provide holistic support to our participants.
- Provide clients with information and resources about mental health, coping strategies, and wellness practices.
- Encourage and facilitate clients’ participation in community activities and social groups.
Qualification:
- A Certificate III or IV in Individual Support/Ageing/Disability or equivalent
- Previous experience working in mental health support, care work, or a similar role is highly desirable.
Mandatory Documentation:
- Medication Competency Certification
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Valid working rights in Australia
- National Police Clearance / Check
- Valid WA Driver’s Licence
- Reliable motor vehicle with comprehensive insurance
- Evidence of COVID-19 vaccinations and current Influenza vaccination
Experience:
Mandatory
- Demonstrated ability to provide safe, person‑centred disability support in line with the NDIS Practice Standards and NDIS Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrated competency in personal care, manual handling, medication assistance, etc.
- Experience maintaining professional boundaries, privacy, dignity, and safeguarding principles when supporting people with disability.
- Experience completing documentation, incident reporting, and following organisational policies and procedures.
- Experience delivering support within the worker’s current skills, knowledge, training, and competence, consistent with NDIS requirements.
Desirable
- Previous experience in disability, aged care, community services, mental health, or similar support environments.
- Experience supporting participants with complex needs, behaviours of concern, or high‑intensity daily personal activities (where relevant).
- Experience working within regulated environments such as NDIS, Aged Care, or community services.
- Experience in supporting people with disability or mental health challenges to achieve goals.
- Experience collaborating with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams
