Airconditioning and refrigeration quotation, installation and repair industrial, commercial and domestic air-conditioning and refrigeration systems. Work is indoors and outdoors; on construction sites, in commercial buildings and at private homes.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, commission, service and repair residential, commercial and industrial airconditioning and refrigeration systems.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and control faults using technical drawings, schematics and appropriate testing equipment.
- Service and maintain split, ducted, cassette, packaged and VRV/VRF airconditioning systems.
- Maintain, diagnose and repair refrigeration plant, cool rooms, freezers, display cabinets and temperature-controlled equipment.
- Undertake preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing and reactive breakdown repairs across customer sites in the Sydney metropolitan area.
- Install, replace and repair compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, valves, switches, gauges, sensors and related control components.
- Measure, fabricate and install refrigerant pipework, drainage, ductwork and associated mechanical components.
- Complete brazing, pressure testing, evacuation, leak detection, refrigerant recovery and refrigerant charging in accordance with industry requirements.
- Commission new and repaired systems and undertake performance testing to confirm correct, safe and efficient operation.
- Carry out electrical fault-finding, component testing and replacement within the authorised scope of the trade. Complete system upgrades, equipment modifications, retrofits and component replacement work where required.
- Record faults, repairs, maintenance activities, refrigerant usage and commissioning results accurately. Communicate professionally with customers, contractors and site representatives regarding faults, repairs and required works.
- Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, environmental obligations and site-specific operational procedures. Work independently and collaboratively with other technicians, contractors and manufacturer-trained personnel.
Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of three years of recent, relevant experience installing, servicing, maintaining and repairing airconditioning and refrigeration systems.
- AQF Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, or an equivalent recognised trade qualification.
- Current Refrigerant Handling Licence, or eligibility to hold the relevant licence required to perform the role legally in Australia.
- Current Australian driver licence and ability to travel between customer sites across the Sydney metropolitan area.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience with commercial refrigeration and cool room systems.
- Experience with preventative maintenance contracts and reactive breakdown work.
- Experience with chillers, central plant, controls or Building Management Systems will be highly regarded.
- Construction Industry White Card will be highly regarded.
Pay: $90,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
