Boddington is a flagship Newmont gold and copper operation in Western Australia, located about 130 kilometres south-east of Perth and 16 kilometres from the rural town of Boddington. Your impact
As a Specialist, Environment Projects and Permitting, you'll play a key role in enabling the successful delivery of RDA2 at Newmont's Boddington operation. Newmont Boddington is currently progressing approval processes for the safe construction and operation of a second tailings storage facility, referred to as RDA2. Through the leadership of environmental permitting, assessment and project activities, you'll help secure regulatory approvals, maintain compliance and support responsible project execution that contributes to the long-term success of the operation.
As part of our team you will

Lead environmental permitting and approval activities for RDA2 and associated site projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and Newmont standards.

Lead a small team to deliver the primary and secondary approvals required for the successful construction and operation of RDA2.

Manage environmental assessment programs, including consultant engagement, technical studies, field programs and regulatory submissions.

Provide environmental and permitting governance to the RDA2 Project team and construction contractors throughout construction of the RDA2 starter dam and transition to the ultimate facility following primary approvals.

Partner with regulators, consultants and internal stakeholders to facilitate approvals, review technical documentation and manage permitting obligations.
Prerequisites for your success in the role
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.

Demonstrated experience leading environmental permitting, approvals and environmental impact assessment processes within mining, resources or other highly regulated industries.

Strong knowledge of Western Australian environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks and stakeholder engagement processes, including experience working with regulators to secure project approvals.

Proven capability in managing environmental projects, consultants and technical studies, including planning, contractor engagement and delivery of quality outcomes.

Well-developed stakeholder engagement, influencing and technical communication skills, with experience preparing and reviewing environmental reports and regulatory submissions, together with full and unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia.
Work Environment
This permanent position will be offered on a flexible work arrangement based out of Newmont's Perth office in Subiaco and will ideally suit applicants currently living in Perth, Western Australia. Travel to Newmont's Boddington operation, located approximately 130 kilometres south of Perth, will be required on an ad hoc basis.
Reporting to the Director Environment, Boddington, you will work closely with project teams, operational leaders, environmental specialists and social performance professionals, while engaging with regulators, consultants and other key stakeholders to support the delivery of RDA2. You may also oversee consultants and direct reports to support environmental permitting, assessment and project delivery activities.
