About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Disability Support Worker for our SIL accommodation in Bundoora. Your role will involve providing in-home supports to our participant and assisting with personal care, meal preparation, medication management, community access, transportation, and companionship.
This role is ideal for someone who is a fast learner, can work under limited supervision, is passionate about the work they do, and is able to demonstrate a person-centred and positive approach to supporting and empowering participants. Experience with PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) and Autism, particularly in managing behaviours of concern, is essential. The participant is also seeking someone with strong mental health background.
Duties in this role include:
- Providing in-home assistance and supports to participants
- Assisting with personal care tasks such as showering, toileting, dressing, and grooming
- Assisting with medication administration
- Assisting with meal preparation and feeding as required
- Assisting clients with challenging behaviours
- Supporting participants in developing essential life skills and achieving their goals
- Assisting with transport for appointments and shopping
- Promoting community engagement and social inclusion
- Documenting participant progress notes and records
- Manual handling depending on client complexities
- Adhering to the participant’s care plan and NDIS frameworks
- Assisting with domestic tasks such as general cleaning and laundry
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Valid Right to Work in Australia
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Disability Support Worker
- Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Personal Care or above
- Experience working in a SIL house
- Experience assisting complex clients with behavioural issues
- Experience working with clients with PDA and Autism, especially with behaviours of concern
- Strong mental health background
- Cert IV in Mental Health (preferred)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (required)
- First Aid Certificate HLTAID011 or HLTAID012 (required)
- CPR Certificate HLTAID009 (required)
- Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle (required)
- Comprehensive car insurance (required)
- Evidence of COVID vaccinations
- Willingness to complete compliance requirements and certifications once successful
- Can start immediately
Ongoing shifts:
Monday 8am-10am or 7:30am-10:30am
Tuesday 8am-10am or 7:30am-10:30am
Thursday 8am-10am or 7:30am-10:30am
Pay: From $35.15 per hour
