The Project
ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2, Sydney’s third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.
Project scope includes:

Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction

Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels
- Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway
The Opportunity
ACCIONA is seeking a dedicated Site Engineer (Shift Engineer) to be an integral part of our team on this groundbreaking project. As a TBM Shift Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring successful TBM operations.

Key accountabilities for the position:

Ensure TBM operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with programme, quality, and environmental requirements.

Coordinate and supervise shift activities to achieve planned production targets.

Provide engineering support and technical direction to supervisors, crews, and subcontractors.

Monitor TBM performance and production data, identifying and resolving operational issues.

Support planning and resource coordination to maintain productivity and minimise delays.

Drive compliance with all safety standards, procedures, and permit requirements.

Oversee inspections, quality checks, and routine maintenance activities to maximise TBM availability.

Prepare and communicate accurate shift reports covering production, safety, quality, and programme performance.
Required Skills and Competencies
Capability & Experience you will need to have:

Bachelor's degree in engineering.

Prior experience in underground construction, particularly with TBM operations (Beneficial).

Willingness to work on a rotating dayshift/nightshift roster 5 days a week (Monday to Friday).

Proven ability to manage teams in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

Solid knowledge of safety standards and quality control in tunnelling and construction environments.

Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders.
