About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is integral to providing high-quality consultancy across a defined patient caseload, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-informed rehabilitation programs.
Duties for the role will include:
Providing inpatient rehabilitation services across wards in Flinders Medical Centre and Repat Health Precinct
Providing treatments and assessment for outpatients referred to the Rehabilitation service
Providing care to Rehabilitation patients at home (home visits and Telerehab)
Providing clinical supervision to Senior Medical Practitioners, Trainee Medical Officers and Medical Students
Ensuring effective communication with other care providers to promote continuity of patient care
Acting as a role model and mentor for medical students, registrars, resident medical officers and interns
Fostering an environment that encourages staff to set direction for and continually improve services. (Including: attending ward quality meetings, participating in AROC benchmarking, leading one quality assurance activity per year)
Participating in the training program provided to rehabilitation trainees in Southern Adelaide (expectation is one hour per week is spent with each trainee supervised and in addition attendance at group teaching sessions)
About you:
Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration (Rehabilitation Medicine); or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award
Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
Demonstrated high standard of clinical practice in Rehabilitation Medicine.
Demonstrated professional integrity, leadership and motivational skills.
Demonstrated participation in approved continuing medical education since attaining specialist qualification.
Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of professional judgement and medical competence in a multidisciplinary setting.
