Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fifth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing, transport and health care. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.
Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 69,000 and is culturally rich with 17.4% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.
Inclusive Communities Officer
Salary: $80,385.24 per annum

Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking an Inclusive Communities Officer.
This role is focused on improving public health outcomes for our region. It will support this through strengthening inclusion, equity and participation across the community by ensuring diverse voices are reflected in Council’s programs, services and decision-making.
In this role, you will work closely with community members, partners, and internal teams to deliver initiatives that improve access, representation, and engagement. You will support projects that improve participation, build strong partnerships across sectors, and embed inclusive approaches across Council. Your work will contribute to stronger community connection, social cohesion, and improved wellbeing outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Work with diverse communities to strengthen inclusion, participation and representation
- Design and deliver community programs and initiatives that improve access and engagement
- Build and maintain partnerships with community organisations and stakeholders
- Ensure community perspectives inform Council planning, services and policy development
- Support inclusive engagement practices across Council teams
- Plan, deliver and evaluate projects aligned with strategic priorities
This position requires:
- Experience in community development, social work, education or a related field
- Strong understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion issues
- Experience working with diverse communities and managing community-based projects
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver outcomes within timeframes
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to community-led outcomes
