As a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Specialist you will play a pivotal role in advancing inclusive and equitable service delivery across The Salvation Army's Social and Community Mission (SCM). Through your specialist expertise, leadership, and advocacy, you will help remove barriers and create meaningful opportunities for people from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds, ensuring our services are accessible, respectful, and responsive to the needs of the communities we serve.
Reporting to the Head of Social and Community Mission, this is a permanent part-time hybrid role, 19 hours per week. We offer flexible location options for this role, with the successful candidate able to be based at either our Territorial Support Office in Blackburn, VIC, or our Territorial Headquarters in Redfern, NSW.
Conditions
Compensation is in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award – Level 7.
How you will make an impact

Lead the implementation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, driving the delivery of quality improvement and workforce development priorities across Social and Community Mission

Embed inclusive practice through the development of resources, specialist guidance, data-informed monitoring, and Communities of Practice that enhance service delivery and workforce capability

Build and maintain strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and strengthening engagement across the DEI sector

Support workforce inclusion by developing initiatives that enhance the experience, engagement, and sense of belonging of employees from historically underrepresented groups

Coordinate and promote participation in key diversity and inclusion events, while advocating for equitable outcomes and continuous improvement across services and programs

Tertiary degree qualification in Social Work, Welfare, Community Development or related field or

Demonstrated commensurate level of sector knowledge through previous appointments and professional development

At least 5 years’ experience in a community services role Demonstrated ability to influence and build strong stakeholder relationships, with experience fostering collaboration, navigating complex discussions, and driving positive outcomes across diverse groups and perspectives

Proven capability to lead change, innovation, and continuous improvement, with the ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that strengthen inclusive practices, enhance service delivery, and achieve organisational goals
