We are growing our team of Townsville Youth Workers - several roles available
Salary: $45.28 – $46.70 per hour (SCHADS Award, Level 3.1–3.2) plus superannuation, with sleepover shifts attracting a sleepover allowance as per the SCHADS Award.

Our Residential Care and Emergency Placement programs support children and young people who require immediate, high-level care, often following trauma, crisis or complex risk. We provide stable, closely supervised environments where safety is the foundation, underpinned by robust child safety plans, structured routines and consistent, trauma-informed support.
Our staff are trained to respond to high-risk behaviours with care, consistency and clear boundaries, helping young people build the trust and stability they need to move forward. Every placement is guided by an individualised approach to risk management and case planning, ensuring each young person's specific needs and safety requirements are met.
This role suits an experienced Youth Worker who is ready to hit the ground running. You will bring:

At least 12 months' experience working with youth
- Experience working with high-risk clients
- Experience within the residential care sector
- An understanding of trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support frameworks
- Exposure to child safety principles and practice
- Confident navigating Microsoft 365 & CTARS software
If you're early in your career but have transferable experience, for example, a relevant qualification combined with hands on experience from another industry, we'd still love to hear from you.
Confidence is key. This role requires you to make quick decisions, hold boundaries and stay grounded when things get intense. We need someone who trusts their own judgement and isn't afraid to lead in the moment.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

Meeting the daily needs of young people in care, while maintaining a clean and safe environment
- Following structured schedules and routines that give young people consistency and stability
- Supporting each young person's individual goals, in collaboration with the wider team
- Completing administrative tasks, including shift logs, incident reports and medication documentation via CTARS
- Working a range of shifts, including mornings, days, afternoons, evenings and sleepovers

Proof of permanent residency (passport, birth certificate or citizenship certificate) or a valid visa, if applicable)
- An active Working with Children (Blue Card), with no negative notice
- Current QLD Open Driver's Licence
- Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certification
- A National Police Check issued within the last 3 months
- Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, or a similar qualification (completed or currently enrolled)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships
- Capacity to work well both independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to privacy and confidentiality obligations
- Cultural awareness and respect across diverse backgrounds
- Genuine, demonstrated experience in youth work or residential care, this role is not suited to candidates without a track record in the field
- Strong understanding of child safety plans, with a commitment to always following safety measures and procedures
- Genuine flexibility to work across a variety of different shifts (days, evenings, sleepovers, weekends and public holidays) with flexibility to adapt to roster adjustments, including the ability to accept shifts at short notice.
