About the role and our department:
Do you have lived experience supporting a young person through mental health challenges? Are you passionate about helping other families and carers feel heard, connected and hopeful?
headspace Shepparton is seeking a Family/Carer Peer Worker (0.6 FTE) to join our multidisciplinary team. Drawing on your own lived experience, you'll provide compassionate peer support, practical information and advocacy to parents, carers and families of young people aged 12–25 accessing headspace services. The role supports family-inclusive practice by empowering carers, reducing isolation and promoting hope and recovery.
Successful candidate will have:
Has lived experience as a family member or carer of a young person experiencing mental health challenges.
Can use their lived experience safely and purposefully to support others.
Demonstrates empathy, strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Is committed to recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and family-inclusive practice.
