You will drive the delivery of the Member’s communications across digital, print and local campaigns, working in a small, fast-moving electorate office where your work is public, immediate and closely connected to the community.

You will work closely with the Member and be trusted with co-creating and executing the communications plan.
This role supports the Member with compelling digital and social media, events, research and community engagement. An understanding of the role of local, state, and federal governments, as well as a general knowledge of the Hasluck electorate, is desirable.
The role will require you to be highly motivated and be able to work independently and as part of a close-knit team who are driven by their values to support and implement the mandate of the Federal Albanese Government. This position will suit a highly motivated person with office and administration experience and strong organisational skills, social media-savvy, who thrives in often fast-paced but rewarding environments.
You will also sometimes attend to phone and email enquiries, triage correspondence, meet with constituents and other visitors to the Electorate Office, and assist to resolve their issues and answer any queries in a courteous, sensitive, and prompt manner.

Duties
- Oversight and management of the Communications of the Member’s office.
- Creation and delivery of digital and social media assets.
- Running Social Media campaigns under the direction of the Member.
- Following up actions after events.
- Providing support in person and through online contact with constituents.
- Other electoral and office duties as directed.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated experience in digital campaigning, with a focus on social media and content creation.
- A strong eye and visual storytelling instinct, with sharp writing and editing skills across digital and social formats.
- Experience with a range of multimedia tools.
- Highly motivated and able to work proactively and independently.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines, plan, organise and prioritise work under pressure.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Teams.
- A basic understanding of parliamentary and political systems.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a political office, or working on political campaigns.
- Experience in office administration, stakeholder engagement and event management.
- Knowledge of the Hasluck electorate.
Position information
Direct Supervisor: Chief of Staff
Reasonable additional hours: May be required to attend events outside office hours with the Member in the electorate.
Travel: Within the electorate, as directed by the Member and to Canberra for parliamentary sitting weeks
Conduct: Comply with the Behaviour Code for staff, Australian Government security requirements and the ALP’s Code of Conduct.
Employment conditions
Set out in the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984, Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 and relevant determinations and directions, which include:
- A commencing salary between $76,910 and $89,793 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.
- An additional optional allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
- Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).
- An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.
