About the role:
The Executive Director, Emergency Management provides authoritative expert advice and leadership for the emergency management arrangements and functions for the department and across the health system to ensure the department meets its legislative obligations.
Key responsibilities of the role are focused on ensuring the department and health system meet their obligations for reducing the risk, impacts and consequences of hazards and preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies.
The position works across government and with emergency management sector agencies at local, regional, state, cross jurisdictional and commonwealth levels and represents the department at state and national level emergency management governance committees, exercises and forums.
Success in this role acknowledges that there are two distinct modes of operation: a business -as-usual component and a response component that operates in a high stress environment using previously rehearsed procedures while rapidly responding to the unfolding needs of emergencies.

About you:

A tertiary qualification is mandatory and a post tertiary qualification in emergency management would be advantageous.

A full driver's licence is required.

Level 2 Incident Controller would be desirable.
