The role
The Pricing Manager - Pricing Solutions role will lead pricing innovation projects and accelerate the company’s pricing ambitions. Key responsibilities include thorough data analysis, designing, monitoring, and robustly implementing new pricing solutions. To excel in this role, the Pricing Manager must possess exceptional technical acumen, a strong background in quantitative analysis, data science, or actuarial science, and proven leadership capabilities to guide and inspire a high-performing technical team focused on delivering results.
Position Accountabilities

Lead Pricing Innovation: Drive the identification, exploration, and development of novel pricing strategies, models, and techniques through structured projects.

Advanced Model Development: Design, build, and validate complex pricing algorithms, predictive models, and simulation tools, incorporating machine learning, statistical modelling, and behavioural economics.

Risk Management & Quality Assurance: Implement robust risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies for all projects, ensuring high standards of data integrity, model accuracy, and compliance with unwavering attention to detail.

Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the innovation-focused team in areas such as data science, statistical programming (e.g., Python), and advanced analytics and pricing platforms (e.g. Earnix, Radar).

Data & Analytics Strategy: Define the data requirements and analytical frameworks necessary to support sophisticated pricing innovation, ensuring access to high-quality internal and external datasets.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with product, pricing and data teams to translate insights into actionable business strategies and integrated solutions.

Documentation & Best Practices: Ensure thorough documentation of all work, methodologies, and findings, contributing to the company’s evolving knowledge base in pricing, with careful attention to detail for accuracy and clarity.
What experience you’ll bring
Qualifications and Experience

10+ years general insurance industry experience, with a strong focus on pricing strategy, advanced analytics, and leading innovation projects.

Proven analytical, critical thinking, and complex problem-solving capability, particularly in identifying new opportunities and addressing challenges within complex pricing contexts.

Exceptional attention to detail and a meticulous approach to data integrity, model development, and project execution, ensuring accuracy and precision in all deliverables.

In-depth understanding of advanced statistical modelling techniques, predictive analytics and machine learning approaches, with the ability to apply them to complex pricing challenges, interpret results, and assess associated risks.

Strong risk awareness and experience in integrating risk management principles into analytical methodologies and project frameworks.

Expert in advanced statistical programming languages and tools (e.g., SQL, Python) for model development, data manipulation, and automation. Experience with specialised pricing software (e.g., Earnix, Radar).

Tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. Actuarial qualifications or advanced degrees (e.g., PhD) in relevant areas are highly regarded.
Location: Toowong
