About us
Urbis is more than just a consultancy. We are a multidisciplinary urban consultancy, inspiring and creating solutions for our ever-changing world. We empower our brightest minds with opportunities to collaborate, challenge convention and deliver thoughtful, practical outcomes for our clients and each other.
If you're looking to make a meaningful impact in cities, regions and communities across Western Australia, we're keen to meet you. We pride ourselves on supporting our people to do their best work - creating positive, lasting outcomes while gaining exposure to some of the most complex and rewarding projects in the industry.
The opportunity & how you will make an impact
We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced and values-driven Cultural Heritage experts to join our Perth based team. We are seeking interest from senior archaeologists or anthropologists to play a leading role in delivering expert Aboriginal heritage advice across a diverse range of projects, from urban development to regional and remote infrastructure, resources and land use planning. You will bring a deep understanding of Aboriginal heritage legislation and practice in Western Australia, including contemporary consultation frameworks and regulatory processes. Just as importantly, you will have experience working collaboratively with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal organisations and other stakeholders to support informed, respectful and transparent heritage outcomes. As a senior member of the team, you will lead complex heritage projects, mentor emerging practitioners, contribute to business development and help shape the ongoing growth of Urbis' Aboriginal heritage practice in Western Australia and nationally.
This is an opportunity to influence best practice, strengthen relationships with clients and Aboriginal stakeholders, and deliver work that protects cultural heritage while enabling responsible development.
As a member of our Heritage team, every day is different.
You'll make an impact by:
- Providing informed, strategic and practical leadership on Aboriginal heritage matters, including Aboriginal heritage surveys and assessments, due diligence and impact assessments, archaeological excavation and salvage programs, cultural heritage management advice, desktop and archival studies, and expert advice for statutory approvals and compliance.
- Leading the delivery of Aboriginal heritage projects from inception through to completion, ensuring quality, timeliness and budget controls
- Building and maintaining respectful working relationships with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal organisations, clients and regulators.
- Interpreting Western Australian Aboriginal heritage legislation, policy and guidance to provide clear and defensible advice.
- Preparing high-quality technical reports, statutory documentation and client-facing deliverables.
- Mentoring and supporting junior and mid-level heritage staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture.
- Contributing to proposals, tenders and business development activities, helping to secure new work and strengthen client relationships.
- Working closely with planners, environmental scientists, engineers and other specialists to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary outcomes.
- Representing Urbis in professional forums, stakeholder meetings and industry discussions.
- Managing workload and project performance with accountability, contributing to the financial health of the team.
