Join Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) Mental Health Services at Budyari Gilli, Blacktown Hospital, and be part of the exciting opening of a new 20-bed Low Secure Forensic Mental Health Inpatient Unit on 13 October 2026.
This is a rare opportunity to join a new service from its beginning and play an important role in shaping its clinical culture, model of care and patient experience. Working alongside the existing Budyari Gamada services, the unit will provide specialised assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for people with mental health impairments within the forensic mental health system.

The service will operate as part of the Forensic Mental Health Network and work closely with the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network to support integrated care, continuity of treatment and patient flow across NSW.
What you'll be doing
As a Neuropsychologist, you will provide specialist neuropsychological assessment and consultation for patients with complex mental health presentations and potential cognitive and behavioural implications. Your expertise will contribute to assessment, formulation, treatment planning, rehabilitation and recovery.
You will:
Manage a clinical caseload involving complex neuropsychological assessment and intervention.
Conduct evidence-based assessments to support diagnosis, differential diagnosis and monitoring of cognitive and behavioural functioning.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to translate assessment findings into meaningful treatment, rehabilitation and recovery recommendations.
Provide clear, ethical and clinically appropriate documentation, feedback and recommendations to patients, families, carers and treating teams.
Contribute specialist knowledge through supervision, peer consultation and professional development in neuropsychological assessment.
This role will suit a Neuropsychologist who can bring sound clinical judgement, strong communication skills and a commitment to person-centred care to a complex forensic environment. Essential Requirements:
Qualification: Completion of a recognised Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Clinical Neuropsychology.
Registration: Current full registration with AHPRA, Psychology Board of Australia
Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated experience in neuropsychologist assessment, intervention and evaluation of clinical outcomes within a mental health and/or forensic mental health setting
Demonstrated knowledge of psychological issues that can arise in patients/consumers referred for neuropsychological assessment in a forensic mental health setting
Demonstrated experience working independently in the provision of care and excellent time management and organisation skills with attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish the service goals and improve patient/consumer goals and outcomes
Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt the communication style to suite the target audience.
Commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and an understanding of the issues that impact on delivery in relation to the field of psychological practice
