Little Joeys Early Learning Centre is seeking an experienced and passionate Lead Educator for the Babies Room to join our growing team. This is a full-time position based in Narre Warren East, VIC. As Lead Educator, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing, stimulating and safe environment for our youngest learners whilst providing leadership and guidance to educators within the babies room. This role is pivotal to our centre's commitment to delivering exceptional early childhood education and care that supports the developmental needs of infants and their families.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities, routines and learning experiences that support the physical, emotional, cognitive and social development of babies
- Create and maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment that meets regulatory standards and best practice guidelines for infant care
- Build strong, supportive relationships with babies and their families, maintaining open communication and sharing observations of development and progress
- Supervise and mentor other educators within the babies room, providing guidance on best practice in infant care and early childhood education
- Document and assess infant development, maintaining detailed records and sharing information with parents and carers
- Implement appropriate health, hygiene and safety protocols, including nappy changing, feeding and sleep routines
- Collaborate with room staff to plan and organise the physical learning environment to maximise exploration and developmental opportunities
- Support the wellbeing and settling-in process for new babies and their families
- Maintain compliance with legislation, regulations and the centre's policies and procedures
- Contribute to the centre's continuous improvement and quality assurance processes
What we're looking for
- A current Early Childhood qualification (Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification appropriate to early childhood settings
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one) as required by Victorian legislation
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience working in early childhood education and care settings, with demonstrated experience in babies/infants room
- Minimum 24 months of specific experience working in a babies room environment is essential for this position
- Strong knowledge of infant development, attachment theory and responsive caregiving practices
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families and team members
- Demonstrated capacity to lead, mentor and support other educators in a collaborative team environment
- Commitment to creating inclusive, respectful and culturally sensitive learning environments
- Ability to observe, document and reflect on practice to support continuous improvement
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- A genuine passion for early childhood education and the wellbeing of very young children
- Australian citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for this position
