About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a casual vacancy within the Specialist Clinics Outpatients Service. The successful candidates will have strong surgical skills and experience and be available to work Monday to Friday day shifts.
The Specialist Clinics Outpatients Service offers exceptional individualised care and is committed to enhancing the patient experience by providing education, information and support that is evidence based.
Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour plus 25% casual loading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care for patients by:
- Provide high-quality, patient-focused nursing care aligned with professional standards
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and plan care in collaboration with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team
- Implement and evaluate evidence-based nursing interventions and initiate appropriate referrals, escalations as appropriate
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring informed consent and supporting patients through education and decision-making
- Collaborate with medical, nursing, allied health and community services to coordinate care
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, patient safety and infection control practices
About you
You are a dedicated Registered Nurse who is committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care in line with Mater’s Mission and Values.
- Current AHPRA registration (no restrictions) with 3+ years’ experience working within an adult hospital environment.
- Strong clinical skills and a commitment to excellence in nursing practice
- Strong dressing skills including negative pressure dressings
- Experience in Ophthalmology or eye clinic would be highly regarded
- Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues, within professional and ethical boundaries
- Strong time management and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Confidence using electronic systems such as patient information systems, procedural booking tools, Outlook, and Microsoft Excel
