Job Description
This role will be accountable for the day to day load planning execution of rail to maximize optimum wagon utilisation. There will be daily liaison with customer service and fleet teams along with shift supervisors to ensure that customer service expectations are met.
Reporting to the Rail Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the required capabilities in the following areas:
- Rail service planning — Plan and administer all Parkes rail movements to meet customer delivery requirements and minimise delays.
- Wagon & container utilisation — Achieve KPIs by optimising load capacity and ensuring accurate SAP wagon processing before departure.
- Customer documentation — Compile all freight paperwork for Perth-bound services and maintain data integrity across systems.
- Operational problem‑solving — Identify unachievable delivery dates, troubleshoot SAP errors and communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Team collaboration — Work closely with wagon loaders, warehouse teams, rail operations and customer service to ensure safe, efficient outcomes.
- Train reporting — Complete accurate wagon reporting and escalate unlabelled or orphaned freight immediately.
Desired Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar position
- Previous experience and knowledge in warehousing and rail transport industries
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write reports
- Team player
- Customer Service experience
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
- Experience in SAP system is highly desirable
- Experience in implementing new systems and processes will be advantageous
