As Principal Advisor (VTS), you provide a key role in maintaining the VTS Quality Management System (QMS) and associated governance, assurance and reporting functions, supporting the Director (VTS) in all aspects of the branch's VTS functions.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Provide high-level strategic and operational advice on VTS systems, operations, policies and regulatory frameworks to support safe, effective and consistent service delivery.
- Maintain and continuously improve the VTS QMS, including governance, assurance and reporting activities, to manage risk and ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements.
- Lead and coordinate audit, assurance and risk management activities, including monitoring non-compliance and implementing corrective and preventative actions to strengthen operational performance.
- Develop, review and maintain VTS policies, standards, procedures and operational safety documentation, ensuring alignment with international, national and state requirements, including the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) best practice.
- Build and sustain effective relationships across key maritime functions, including Manager VTS, Regional Harbour Masters, pilotage, hydrographic and geospatial services, to support integrated, coordinated and safe maritime service delivery across Queensland.
- Represent MSQ at state and national forums, and influence the consistent application of maritime standards, policy and service delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement and capability development, including VTS training programs, system enhancements and projects that improve safety, efficiency and future-focused VTS services.
