Northern Star Resources currently has an opportunity for an experienced Technical Services Superintendent, reporting to the Operational Effectiveness Manager. This role operates at a Superintendent level and supports our operations by providing technical coverage, building organisational capability, and driving improvements to deliver sustainable value.
Working on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster, the position provides flexible technical support and leadership across Northern Star sites, delivering operational continuity as required, while also contributing to the development of people, systems and standardised ways of working across the business.

- Provide advice on and technical review of Northern Star’s procedures, policies and standards, and ensure these are being followed to support safe mining activities.
- Apply your knowledge of drill and blast, mine planning, scheduling, ventilation, infrastructure, project management, geotechnical engineering and geology to implement practical, value-adding changes across Northern Star’s mines.
- Develop people and build high performing technical teams though training, mentoring and coaching of site personnel.
- Provide coverage of key leadership and engineering roles across Production, Scheduling, Planning, Projects and Pastefill Engineering, Senior Mining Engineer, Technical Services/Planning Superintendent.
- Provide occasional coverage of Alternate Underground Manager role.
- Prepare capital requests, feasibility studies, and related analyses.
- Supervise contractors and project personnel to ensure safe, timely and quality delivery or work.
To thrive in this role, you will need
Experience:
The successful candidate will demonstrate proven leadership and people management experience at a Superintendent level, supported by strong analytical capability and critical thinking skills. They will be adaptable and responsive to continuous improvement and evolving procedures.
They will be proficient in Microsoft Office and mining software such as Deswik (CAD, UGDB, Scheduler and Stope Optimiser) or similar, along with Ventsim. Experience across a variety of underground mining operations, including mine start-ups and production ramp-ups, is essential, together with a clear understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations (Mines).
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
- Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
- Minimum 10 years experience in the mining industry.
- Current WA First Class Mine Manager Certification.
- Current WA Site Senior Executive (SSE) Certification.
St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
