Reporting to the CEO, we are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Head of Sales to lead our companywide sales function and support the continued growth of the business. This Executive leadership role is responsible for developing and executing RPM Hire’s sales strategy, driving growth, strengthening customer relationships, and leading a high-performing sales team across Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead RPM Hire’s sales function, including sales strategy, sales performance, team capability and key customer relationships, ensuring national alignment.
- Develop and deliver a national business development and growth plan aligned with revenue, margin and expansion targets.
- Drive new business opportunities, customer retention, market share growth and strategic account development.
- Actively participate in the sales cycle, including prospecting, networking, client visits, proposals, tenders, negotiations and closing key opportunities.
- Lead, coach and develop State-based sales leaders and sales team members.
- Set clear sales goals, pipeline expectations, activity standards and performance measures.
- Monitor sales performance, pipeline quality, conversion, forecast accuracy, customer retention, revenue and gross margin.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, industry partners and stakeholders.
- Manage escalated customer issues and support continuous improvement in customer experience.
- Work with Marketing to support lead generation, campaigns, collateral and market positioning.
- Partner with Operations, Finance and HSEQ to ensure customer commitments are commercially sound, achievable and compliant.
- Identify market trends, competitor activity, pricing risks and new revenue opportunities.
- Promote RPM Hire’s values and ensure all sales activity supports safe, compliant and commercially responsible outcomes.
About You
You will be a confident, hands-on sales leader with strong commercial acumen and the ability to lead teams, build customer relationships and deliver growth.
You will bring:
- Significant B2B sales leadership experience.
- Demonstrated success leading national, multi-state or multi-location sales teams across different regions or markets.
- Proven ability to develop and execute sales strategies that drive revenue growth, margin improvement, customer retention and market expansion.
- Strong ability to sell on value, with a focus on customer outcomes, service quality, safety, reliability and long-term partnerships.
- Demonstrated success driving growth through new business development, major account management, tenders, proposals and strategic customer relationships.
- Experience contributing to international or global business growth, including assessing new market opportunities, supporting market entry strategies, building scalable sales approaches and adapting commercial strategies to suit different customer, regulatory and operating environments.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, develop and performance manage sales teams against activity, pipeline, revenue, margin and customer outcomes.
- Strong commercial acumen, including pricing, margin, contract negotiation, financial analysis, P&L understanding and risk assessment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, reporting, proposal writing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with customers, suppliers, senior leaders, internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving capability, including lateral thinking and the ability to resolve issues quickly, commercially and professionally.
- A strategic, methodical, energetic and highly accountable approach.
- Strong business system capability, including accurate data capture, record keeping, CRM discipline and sales reporting.
- Strong alignment with RPM Hire’s values, with the ability to model them consistently.
- Ability to travel interstate as required.
- Relevant qualifications in Business, Sales, Marketing or a related field would be highly regarded.
