About the Role

The Management Accountant will be the financial business partner to the Executive Team, providing commercial insight and financial leadership across VEI's portfolio of live events, conferences, incentive programs and experiential activations throughout Australia and the APAC region.
This role goes beyond traditional management accounting. You will work closely with operational teams to improve event profitability, strengthen financial reporting, support strategic planning and help drive the continued growth of the business. You will bridge the gap between finance and operations, turning financial data into meaningful commercial decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
- Partner with the Executive Team to provide financial analysis and commercial recommendations supporting strategic decision-making.
- Analyse event, client and service-line profitability, identifying trends, commercial opportunities and margin improvement initiatives.
- Develop financial models and business cases to evaluate new service offerings, operational initiatives and regional growth opportunities.
- Prepare scenario analysis assessing the financial impact of labour costs, supplier pricing, client payment cycles and operating conditions.
- Deliver strategic post-event financial reviews to improve future budgeting, pricing and operational performance.
Financial Planning & Reporting
- Prepare monthly management reports for the Australian and Singapore businesses, including P&L analysis, cash flow forecasting and key performance indicators.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and rolling financial planning across multiple concurrent event portfolios.
- Perform budget-to-actual variance analysis and provide recommendations to management.
- Prepare regional financial forecasts and support long-term business planning.
- Produce commercial reporting and financial insights for the Executive Team.
Project Accounting & Financial Control
- Manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting across multiple projects.
- Monitor project cash flows, balancing client payment schedules with supplier commitments.
- Maintain financial oversight of project budgets, supplier costs and commercial approvals.
- Analyse pricing, labour utilisation and procurement costs to maximise profitability.
- Support accurate financial reporting through reconciliation of project management systems with accounting records.
Operational Finance & Governance
- Strengthen financial controls across VEI's project management and budgeting processes.
- Monitor working capital, receivables and supplier payment cycles.
- Prepare inter-company reporting between the Australian and Singapore entities.
- Support GST, taxation and statutory reporting requirements.
- Assist with payroll analysis, remuneration modelling and workforce planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting automation and operational efficiency.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will ideally possess:
- Minimum five (5) years' experience in a Management Accountant, Commercial Accountant or Finance Business Partner role.
- CPA Australia or Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ/ICAEW) qualification (or working towards completion).
- Strong commercial acumen with experience preparing budgets, forecasts and management reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence analysing financial data.
- Experience working with project accounting, WIP accounting or job costing.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
Technical Platforms
Experience with the following platforms will be highly regarded:
- Xero
- Monday.com
- Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides & Drive)
- Microsoft Excel (Advanced)
- AI productivity tools
- Business Intelligence and reporting tools (desirable)
