Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals living with physical, mental, or developmental challenges to help them achieve greater independence, improve their quality of life, and participate meaningfully in their community. This position is designated as female-only pursuant to section 27 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA), as being female is considered a genuine occupational qualification for the role. The position involves the provision of personal support services where the privacy, dignity and wellbeing of female participants necessitate the engagement of a female support worker.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and medication reminders.
- Provide personal care, mobility support, social engagement, and medication assistance.
- Promote independence and wellness through goal-directed care.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and homely environment for clients.
- Support continuous improvement and uphold NDIS Quality Standards.
- Implement individualized support or care plans in collaboration with the client and care team.
- Support clients in accessing community resources, attending appointments, and participating in social or recreational activities.
- Advocate for clients to ensure they receive appropriate services and supports.
- Monitor and document client progress, incidents, and any changes in behavior or well-being.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies or crises and follow all safety and reporting procedures.
- Work collaboratively with families, healthcare providers, social workers, and other professionals.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to organizational policies and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Certificates in Community Support Work, Individual Support, disabilities, Social Services, or a related field.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, ageing, or in a similar support role.
- Strong knowledge and application of Manual Handling tasks - certified.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
- Clear criminal record and working with children check.
- NDIS workers screening
- NDIS worker orientation module.
- Driver’s license and access to a comprehensive insured registered vehicle.
Please note that these are sleepover shifts requiring you to remain on-site from 8:00pm to 10:00am. The shift includes 4hours of paid work time and a sleepover allowance. Paid working hours are from 8:00pm to 10:00pm and from 8:00am to 10:00am. The period between 10:00pm and 8:00am is the sleepover component of the shift, during which a sleepover allowance is paid rather than hourly wages, unless you are required to perform duties during that time. These hours are intended to change/increase as clients needs emerges.
