We’re looking for a Senior Education Officer who is passionate about learning, leadership, and driving impactful training programs that support our frontline lifesaving community.
As a key member of our Education Department, you will lead the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of education and training programs that build capability across our membership base.
You’ll play a pivotal leadership role—ensuring programs are strategically aligned, high-quality, and compliant—while supporting a network of trainers, assessors, and volunteers across the state.

What You'll Do:

Lead annual training needs analysis and develop solutions to address capability gaps
- Align education programs with organisational priorities and regional needs
- Support recruitment, development, and retention of Trainers, Assessors & Facilitators
- Design and deliver professional development programs to uplift capability
- Oversee coordination of training resources and education materials
- Maintain consistency and compliance with RTO standards
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide leadership to regional education teams and branches
- Represent SLSQ at state and national forums
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders across Queensland
- Lead quality assurance, audits, and compliance monitoring
- Deliver insights through reporting, data analysis, and communications
- Support budgeting and funding planning
- Oversee training data accuracy and reporting systems
About You:

Working with Children Blue Card (or the ability to obtain)
- Diploma (or higher) in Training & Assessment (TAE) / VET
- Strong experience in program delivery, training, or education leadership
- Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex priorities
- Experience in quality assurance, compliance, or RTO environments
- Strategic thinking with the ability to turn ideas into practical outcomes
- A passion for working in member-based, volunteer, or community organisations
- Flexible to attend occasional weekend meetings, scheduled and communicated in advance
- Project management experience or qualification (highly regarded)
- Strong understanding of Surf Life Saving Queensland’s education, training, membership programs, and development pathways (highly regarded)
