The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary projects team. Operating on an ongoing 8-days-on, 6-days-off, site-based FIFO roster from Brisbane or Sydney, you will play a crucial technical role in delivering a variety of mechanical projects across the resources and oil & gas sectors.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be part of a fast-paced, high-performing team driven by a strong sense of accomplishment and a commitment to exceptional engineering workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, your primary focus will be on the mechanical engineering lifecycle for projects ranging from $100k to $60m. Your daily duties will align with core mechanical engineering principles and include:
- Planning, designing, and overseeing the assembly, erection, and modification of mechanical, piping and processing installations.
- Developing mechanical engineering specifications for projects.
- Establishing standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, and inspection (including the preparation of ITPs, ITRs, and MDRs) according to engineering principles and safety requirements.
- Leading the installation mechanical plant and equipment across Brownfields and Greenfields projects to ensure optimum performance and compliance with Australian Standards.
- Organising and managing mechanical design packages, fabricators, and contractors to ensure technical scopes of work are met.
- Organising and managing project labour and the delivery of materials, plant and equipment.
- Facilitating technical risk assessments on mechanical systems and implementing engineering mitigation strategies.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong technical SMP background with demonstrated mechanical engineering experience in heavy industry environments. You will also possess:
- Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical) minimum. Attainment of PMP certification will be highly advantageous.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ post-graduate, site-based mechanical engineering experience.
- Technical Skills: Competent in the use of SolidWorks, Navisworks, and AutoCAD for mechanical design and review, alongside advanced competency in MS Excel and MS Project.
- Knowledge: Demonstrated experience working strictly to Australian Standards (Mechanical, Piping, and Structural codes).
- Licenses & Certifications: Driver's Licence, current Working at Heights ticket, and the ability to obtain a Confined Space ticket.

Pay: $160,000.00 – $200,000.00 per year
