Salary – $129,464-$142,666 per annum plus superannuation and annual leave loading
Grade – Clerk Grade 9/10
Your role
Join Corrective Services NSW and play a key role in delivering construction projects that support safer communities. As a Construction Estimator, you’ll provide accurate cost estimates, financial insights and expert advice to support infrastructure planning within correctional environments. This is a great opportunity to combine technical expertise with meaningful public sector work, contributing to projects that improve facilities and outcomes across NSW.
What you’ll do
As part of the Infrastructure & Capacity Planning team, you will play a key role in delivering construction projects across correctional facilities by providing accurate cost planning, commercial insight and procurement support.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations that align with NSW procurement requirements and support successful project delivery
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and to expectations
- Monitor project costs, forecasts and financial performance, proactively managing risks, contingencies and cost pressures
- Provide expert advice on cost-effective construction methods, materials and delivery approaches within operational correctional environments
- Develop and maintain estimating tools and databases to improve accuracy, consistency and long-term planning
- Undertake cost analysis and feasibility studies, providing clear financial insights to support project decision-making
- Support procurement activities, including sourcing trades and materials, in line with policies and best practice
Key challenges you’ll navigate
- Balancing competing priorities and stakeholder expectations while delivering accurate estimates within tight timeframes
- Managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring financial targets, deadlines and quality standards are consistently achieved
What we’re looking for
- Demonstrated experience in construction estimating, cost planning or project management, with the ability to deliver accurate financial analysis and forecasting for complex projects.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence outcomes across diverse internal and external groups.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and construction methodologies, with experience applying policies and procedures to achieve value-for-money project outcomes.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience
- Current NSW driver licence and willingness to travel as required.
